Game against Sochi at the Olympic Park finished for Torpedo with loss - 3:5.
Two penalties in a row at the start of the game stopped Torpedo's offensive beginning. The home team didn't use the extra man, but established control of the puck and opened the scoring in the middle of first period. Torpedo equalized before the break using their own powerplay. After shot by Vyacheslav Voynov, the puck went into the goal after hitting Vasily Atanasov.
At the start of the second period, Sochi took the lead again. Torpedo made a lot of attacks during that 20 minutes but didn't use a few good opportunities. Third period became a real thriller. Vasily Atanasov scored 2 more times and made a hat-trick (second in his KHL career). But between his two goals, Sochi also scored twice. In the end Nizhny Novgorod replaced the goalie with a sixth field player. But they didn't keep control of the puck and allowed opponents to score an empty net goal.
